Joining Us - Admissions

We are delighted that you are considering a place for your child at Minety C of E Primary School.
We can't wait to meet you!

ALL applications for a school place (whether starting school for the first time or moving to us from another school) must be made via Wiltshire Council. Information on how to apply can be found below. Alternatively, you can go directly to Wiltshire Council's Admissions website where there is lots more information on their admissions process, including how to apply for a previously 'looked after child' - go straight to the Admission website by clicking here.

Minety C of E Primary School currently has a Pupil Admission Number (PAN) of 20. This means, in each year group we can only accept 20 children.

Is your child starting school for the first time in September? You will need to complete a Main Round application.

For children born between 1 September 2020 and 31 August 2021 who will be joining us in our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS - also called Reception in some schools) in September 2025 (the start of the academic year in which they turn five), you will need to apply for a Main Round entry place. This is done through Wiltshire Council's Parent Portal.

The parent portal opened on 1 September 2024 for applications for September 2025 entry. The national deadline dates for Primary Reception entry was in January 2025.

All applications submitted after the national deadline date will be treated as late applications. Late applications can be submitted using the parent portal.

If you have applied online you will be able to log back into the parent portal on national offer day to view the outcome of your application. National offer day is in April 2025.

This system can only be used to apply for reception, infant to junior transfer and secondary year seven applications, for September 2025 entry.  You cannot apply for an in-year transfer application using the parent portal (see below if you wish to apply for an In-Year Transfer).

We have a full induction programme for both parents and children who have applied for a place at Minety C of E Primary School. Parents will be invited to an Information Meeting in the summer term, and the children will have a number of opportunities to visit their new class and teacher. To help these very young children settle well in school we have a staggered entry throughout September.

Is your child joining us from another primary school? You will need to complete an In-Year Transfer application.

If you are ready to apply for an In-Year Transfer place then click here.

Need more information before you apply?

You may be applying for a school place outside of the usual time of entry. This might be because you have moved house, are being posted with the armed forces, or because your child is unhappy at their current school. Whatever the reason, these are known as transfers or in-year applications. You should not remove your child from their current school before you have made a transfer application and secured a place at another school.

You can apply for an in-year transfer, and track its progress, by registering on the Wiltshire Council website (link above). Alternatively, a copy of the in-year transfer application form can be obtained by calling Wiltshire council Customer Services on 01225 713 010. All paper application forms must be posted back to the address on the application form.  Email copies will not be accepted.

Please note: Applications can only be submitted a term in advance on the required admission date.

If you wish to apply for an in year transfer to a school outside of Wiltshire, please contact the Local Authority for which the school is situated in for details of how to apply.

Once we have received confirmation from Wiltshire Council Admissions that they have your completed application form, we will then email you with joining information to help plan for your child/children's first day. In the meantime, if you would like to speak to the School Office team to discuss a prospective place for your child/children or if you have any questions, then please do not hesitate to call us, we are always happy to hear from to you.
