Physical Education (PE)
What we say about PE at Minety Primary School...
"My favourite thing about PE is that it helps you feel really energised and it turns your day into a better day." Isla
"I love it because I get to spend time with everyone in my class and it is good for keeping my body healthy." Grace
"I enjoy it because it I love being part of a team and it makes me feel happy and healthy ." Sebastian
"I love leading PE because being active helps children both physically and mentally. It also helps children learn valuable life skills, like resilience and being part of a team – skills they will carry with them forever." Mrs Rayner (Subject Leader).
Curriculum Intent
At Minety CE Primary School the intent of teaching Physical Education is to give children the tools and
understanding required to make a positive impact in their own physical health and well-being. We want all children to experience a wide variety of sports and physical skills which will enhance life-long fitness and life choices. PE can challenge and promote self-esteem through the development of physical confidence and problem solving. It can teach children to cope with both success and failure in competitive, individual and team based physical activities. Within dance it will allow children to explore their personal and spiritual identity.
We are committed to creating a positive, safe and nurturing Christian environment, where all members of the school community will be respected and valued and SHINE. By SHINE in PE we mean children:
- Sparkle - encouraging everyone to enhance their own physical health and well-being
- Help - helping each other to achieve full potential through physical activity
- Imagine - imagining how through physical activity we develop physically and mentally.
- Nurture - looking after ourselves and each other through healthy exercise
- Excel - always trying our hardest in all types of sporting activity
