We have been learning about how different materials are suitable for different purposes.
During our investigation, we explored how hard different materials are. We tested a range of materials by using a nail and a coin to see if we could make a scratch on their surface.
If the material scratched easily, we learned that it was softer. If it was difficult or impossible to scratch, this showed that the material was harder. We carefully observed what happened and compared our results.
